The National Hurricane Center lowered its prediction the season’s next tropical depression or storm would form in the Gulf of Mexico, but Florida is likely to get heavy rain next week whether it develops or not.

The tropical depression in the Pacific Ocean will slice across Mexico before merging with another disturbance in the Gulf.

Chances for development of a system moving into the Gulf of Mexico have dropped, but heavy rain is likely across Central and South Florida.
