Jagan Mohan Reddy, hailing the Supreme Court's decision directing an independent probe into the Tirupati laddu row, accused Chandrababu Naidu of "spreading false claims" and "manipulating public sentiments".

Cancelling the Special Investigation Team (SIT) appointed by the Andhra chief minister, the Supreme Court has pointed out Naidu’s ”true picture’, Reddy said at a press conference and alleged that Naidu had been spreading lies.

The Supreme Court on Friday set up an independent Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into the allegations of use of animal fat in the preparation of laddus at Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirumala in Andhra Pradesh to serve as prasadam to devotees and the worshippers of Lord Venkateswara.

The Supreme Court formed an independent SIT to investigate claims of animal fat use in Tirupati laddus. YSRCP's Jagan Mohan Reddy criticized CM Chandrababu Naidu for spreading false news. The court highlighted Naidu's remarks that hurt Hindu sentiments.

The Supreme Court said the independent SIT will comprise two officials each from the CBI and the Andhra Police besides a senior FSSAI official

The Supreme Court ordered an independent investigation into allegations that animal fat was used in the preparation of laddus served as prasadam at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh.

The team can have two members from CBI, two from the state government and one from FSSAI. FSSAI is the most expert apex body in matters of testing food, says SC.
